Elementary Social Workers

Lexie Gastelum
Social Worker K-2

My name is Lexie Lyn Gastelum (Ms. G). I am the bilingual school social worker for Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade. I have worked at our school since the fall of 2017 after graduating with my Masters in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College in May of 2017. In the summer of 2017, I also became a New York Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). I am passionate about advocating and supporting the children and families of our community as well as EMHCS as a whole. I believe it makes a world of a difference to have a strong support system and I am grateful to be a part of that support system for our community.

Please do not hesitate to contact me; I can be reached by email at lgastelum@emhcharter.org.

Ki'Atta Whipset
Social Worker 3 & 4

Hello EMHCS Families,

My name is Ki’Atta Whipset, and I am the Social Worker for our 3rd and 4th-grade students here at EMHCS. Having worked in the social work field for 5 years, I have found that one of my greatest passions lies in advocating for children and helping children overcome any barriers or obstacles they may face. I believe that all children should have someone they can rely on, someone they feel is trustworthy, and someone who cares about their emotional and mental well-being throughout their educational journey.

Growing up in a surrounding suburb, as a minority student, I experienced a great amount of racism and unequal access to resources which has caused me to develop a true love for teaching students about the importance of resiliency, perseverance, and dedication. My goal here at EMHCS is to help our students beat the odds stacked against them, develop skills that will help them become successful in adulthood and throughout their education, and help our students believe in themselves when they have doubts. It is a true honor to help our students access resources that will help them to become successful.

Please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone if you have further questions or concerns. Thank you, and I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) this school year.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns at my email kwhipset@emhcharter.org or via phone at 585-544-6170 ext. 7072.
